India’s automobile sector giant Maruti Suzuki has launched its first MPV, XL6. The version is an exclusive breed of Ertiga which has much more improvisation. XL6 is available in its premium Nexa outlets, to make it elite. Maruti has made huge efforts to give a tough competition which it places Ertiga, the predecessor for its grand entry.
XL6, as the name says, is a six-seater, extra-large rather than it well goes as exclusive. The exterior look gives an uplift feature of Maruti with its new set of bumpers that has faux skid plates, upper grille, auto headlamps, cruise control, and rain-sensing wipers. The interior is a completely black leather finish, with silver streaks to make it classier. The dashboard has got attention with its 7-inch Smart play studio touchscreen infotainment unit that offers Android Auto and Apple car play. The best feature of XL6 is the captain seats in the middle row which has got the one-touch fold and slide mechanism to ease the pathway for the third row. The last row can be reclined and also folded to use it as boot space.
XL6 is powered by a K15 petrol engine which develops 104 bhp and 138 Nm of peak torque. Though it resembles the 5-speed manual and 4-speed torque converter automatic gearboxes, the shift quality is smooth enough for the users. The six-color variants include Nexa blue, pearl brave khaki, prime auburn red, pearl arctic white, pearl arctic white, metallic magma grey, and premium silver. The base price starts from Rs 9.80 Lakh and the range goes up to Rs 11.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
Rivalries of XL 6 are Mahindra’s Marazzo, Renault’s Lodgy and Honda’s BRV. In the MPV segment, XL6 cannot compete directly with Toyota Innova but can be viewed as a budget-friendly version of it. XL6 is smaller in size than Innova but has better features in its price as dual platform Android Auto and Apple car play connectivity infotainment system, fuel-efficient mild hybrid engine, ‘Suzuki Connect’ feature which works with the help of a Sim card in the vehicle can be linked to the smartphone. It informs the users about battery health status, real-time on board diagnostics of the vehicle related to engine and real time tracking of the vehicle along with geo-fencing.
To conclude, XL6 is a better option for the consumers who are looking at the features of an MPV in a reasonable price range.
